March 2009
Dear Patients and Friends,
March is the month where we really look forward to the day that is known as Spring.
It seems to bring more activity with yardwork, cleaning up, and being outdoors more.
Some patients wonder why they get back problems or pain at other times of the year.
The most common reason is that the daily activities we do may be improper. To all
my new patients we tell them not to slouch, not to sleep on their stomach,
cross your legs at the ankles, and much more. Most of these things we do will
stretch ligaments, cause muscle weakness, and cause misalignments in the spine.
This a cumulative effect that with a chiropractic adjustment will help you stay in balance, stay in alignment and help you body feel better and last longer.
Chiropractic is based on the principle that our natural state of health and well being is maintained by an innate intelligence that flows through our nerves to all parts of our body. Chiropractic simply helps to keep this miraculous life force flowing freely by correcting vertebral subluxations which are spinal misalignments that interfere with nerve energy.
When obstructed, the flow of this life-force is diminished and your body’s ability to resist illness and disease is reduced, along with blood flow and lymphatic flow.
Chiropractic approaches health from inside out. When our bodies suffer from pain and sickness, true health is restored, not by putting something from the outside in but by making an adjustment and releasing this life-force from the inside out.
I’m not saying drugs or medication should never be used. There are times when they can alleviate severe pain and discomfort or an antibiotic must be used as a lifesaver. Within your own body you already have an internal drug store that can provide its own medication without side effects or drug dependency. In fact, your body manufactures every medicine you’ll ever need; antibiotics (WBC’s), insulin, cortisone, hormones and numerous other substances.
Therefore, it’s important to keep your nervous system and your Inate Intelligence operating at it’s top level by eating healthy foods, getting sufficient exercise and rest, having positive thoughts, reducing stress, taking nutrition supplements, and correcting subluxations.
